Dear Vipassana New World,
I'm a student of vipassana, done my first course last january. And intend to go again as a server next year in jan. again (my holiday period).
My concern is: Is vipassana compatible with the practice of vajrayana buddhism? (ie: is it compatible with anything else, religions, personal development, etc?)
The lineage I follow is very ritualistic, still I don't take it just as a ritual, but I have quite a strong feeling on love and compassion. I'am trying to follow both, two hours of vipassana everyday, and some ritualism too on kagyu lineage every now and then.
What would you recommend?
Thank you very much
Please follow your heart.
This will allow you to flourish more quickly. Say Yes to life when it has to do with training "the opening of your ability to give and receive love". Ritual/ ceremony plays an important part in metta/ lovingkindness.
The Buddha didn't teach much on ritual/ ceremony, yet we in current times have grown up on it, and many of us resonate with the path of Devotion. I too host ceremonies with Angels, with my higher self, with 'God', with Christian lineages, with Buddhist lineages. What I am true and respectful of is each lineage.
So long as I am in respect of what I am practicing, then I am true to it. Now if I mix too many techniques at one time I'll begin to feel it as a waning or confusion in my practice. So sometimes I just practice one thing for a few weeks very reverently. Then all of a sudden i find myself on the other end of the spectrum training with other energy practices.
The end goal is you and your highest humble awakening.
If your practice sincerely supports your humble awakening, your truth, your Light flourishing for all to See and be blinded by...
Learn how to follow your heart and trust. It takes time, and it makes you the unique, amazing person you are.
